Christmas '09!

Christmas ’09 was amazing!

Here’s my 12/25/09 haul:

On my list of fashion/style books that I really wanted to get! Check it out >> The Nylon Book of Global Style.

A really cool book – Scott Schuman blogs about really well dressed people all over the world. Check it out >> The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman.

A really gorgeous edition of Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell – definitely going on my list of things to read.

Another amazing book! (The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde – I’ve been meaning to read this!) Do you see that beautiful peacock feather pattern? I am going to ask my aunt and uncle where they got these fabulous editions! (I’ll post a link when I get it.) Thanks so much for these 4 amazing books Aunt M and Uncle B!

Mrs. Kasoogi’s better half – Mr. Kasoogi.

This is what his information-tag says:

MR. KASOOGI

Mr. Kasoogi is a treasure hunter. He’s had a lot of practice hunting for smaller items like candy, donuts, and even fruit. Now he’s ready to take on the big challenges… But he needs a partner. Someone he can trust. Are you up for it? Will you be there when Mrs. Kasoogi turns the kitchen lights on and you’re caught with your hand in the cookie jar? Yes? Good! You take the blame! Mr. Kasoogi doesn’t mess with Mrs. Kasoogi.

The big gift of the year!! I knew I was getting an acoustic guitar this Christmas, but I had no idea what it would look like. My dad actually got me a hybrid guitar! If you plug it into an amplifier, it doubles as an electric. How cool is that? I think it’s beautiful, and I love it!

**Quick shout-out to the giver of that sunflower pillow! Thanks, Gma C! (I know you didn’t give it this Christmas, but it’s still well-loved over here!!)

A beautiful necklace! Thanks, Gma C! (I let my guitar wear it – I think I should give my guitar a name. I’ve met a lot of people who’ve done that. I can never think of cool enough names though. Should it be a boy, a girl? Suggestions, anyone?)

This incredibly comfortable coat from Grandma D and Grandpa B! Thanks you guys!

It’s so soft!!

Do you see these earrings?! Aren’t they freakishly awesome!? My dad got them for me at an art store that sells things made by local artists. In case you’re wondering what they’re made of……. Yes, they are made of spoons. I think they’re fabulous.

Having this extended holiday has been great. The “blizzard” gave us three days off of school this week. Unfortunately, however, it meant that I couldn’t participate in a Secret Santa gift-giving that my friends and I are doing. We were supposed to exchange gifts this Tuesday. The last two years, we slipped each other presents through our locker slots, which really limited what we could give one another. This year, we decided we should try something new. Everyone would write their name and one to three things that they would like to receive (all under $20) on an index card. Whichever name you picked out of the lunchbox (we didn’t have a hat to pull from, we aren’t allowed to wear hats at our school) was the person you had to get a gift for. You didn’t have to get a person one of the things they wanted on their card, but it gave the person (the gift giver) an idea of what their gift-ee (receiver of their gift) wanted. My person wanted a $10-$15 gift certificate (of any kind), or toe-socks. I jumped for the toe-socks idea. She would probably be expecting her Secret Santa to just get her a gift certificate, so I hope she doesn’t see this coming. And don’t worry, my giftee doesn’t know about my blog, so she won’t see this before I get a chance to give it to her.

Do you think she’ll like them? I think they’re pretty snazzy, as toe-socks go. :)

My parents and I have a tradition on Christmas day. We don’t go change out of PJ’s and we just sit around the house all day, sitting next to the fire, watching movies, hanging out. This year, I changed that tradition. I was feeling really antsy, so I told my mom and dad that I really wanted to go out to see a movie or do something.

We ended up watching two movies.

Up in the Air

It’s Complicated

I’ll probably post reviews of one or both of them soon.

I hope you all had great holidays!

Now it’s time to get ready for 2010!!

  1. You can find the books on Amazon, dear niece. Penguin has come out with oh, about 8 of these babies. The Wilde was easy to choose - I fell for the peacock pattern, like you, but the other one I had to do some thinkin'.
We saw Up in the Air, too - all three of us were in quite the introspective mood afterwards. The boys saw Avatar twice, once with me - I want to see it again! And again, and again! Was that a piece of fabulousness or what?
